Our Mission

To share hunting knowledge that ultimately sets the stage for an epic adventure.

Our History

Started in 2023, the founder of Colorado State Hunt, Benjamin Petersen, grew up in Colorado but didn't start hunting until his early 30s. He found that a lot of hunters were hesitant to share their spots, so he decided to use his data and analytics skills to create a resource for hunters who wanted to find their own places to hunt.

Our Values

Fulfilling Needs

Colorado State Hunt started from a deep passion for filling a need in the hunting community. Getting started is tough and knowlege is often times only shared down from generation to generation. There is a need in the hunting community to help people find safe spaces to hunt without having to dive deep into the existing resources today.

Grit

Hunting any animal takes a certain amount of "Grit" no matter how much research you have done. You can prepare really well and get out there and something like the weather takes the wind out of your sails. Well current hunting data in Colorado is a lot like that. Your working through species and find out that there is a lack of data on waterfowl in comparison to other species.

Authenticity

With a new generation that is taking to the likes of tools like ChatGPT, we tend to lean on that technology to drive our decisions and do our literal homework. Well I can tell you that we tried to lean on that to build some of this website and a few species in we realized that those tools would make up population estimates, number of hunters, and would even tell you that you could hunt a black bear in Colorado by baiting it, which is illegal. Don't get us wrong we love technology, but we want to make sure that we are posting authentic content that you can trust.

Diversity and Inclusion

Hunting down to it's core is very diverse in nature, from the species that you are hunting, the gear needs, and the different methods that you can harvest an animal. We believe that by our very nature are all made to hunt and have the capability. With that said not everyone wants to hunt, but we believe that we are a community and let's face it we have to trust one another out there.Â
